On January 23, Ararat Rescue Service led by Ararat Governor Garik Sargsyan summed up the activities of Ararat Regional Rescue Department in 2019 with the participation of Deputy Director of Rescue Service, r/s Colonel Armen Grigoryan.
Representatives of the territorial subdivisions of Ararat State Bodies, the employees of Ararat Regional Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the employees of the regional administration, and other officials were also present at summarizing.
The report on the activities of Ararat Regional Rescue Department for 2019 was presented by the Head of the Department, r/s Colonel Murad Margaryan.
In 2019, 1475 emergency cases (790 in 2018) were registered in Ararat Province, which resulted in 27 victims (25 in 2018) and 436 casualties (274 in 2018).

In 2019, compared to 2018, the number of emergency cases in the Province has increased by 685 or 87%, the number of victims – by 2, the number of casualties – by 162 or 59%.
974 of the registered accidents are technogenic, which makes up 66% of the total accidents (432 in 2018), resulting in 27 victims (23 in 2018) and 108 casualties. This comprises 24.7% of the total number of casualties (88 in 2018).
Technogenic emergency situations have increased by 542 or 125%, the number of victims has increased by 4, the number of casualties has increased by 20 or 18.5%. 896 (92%) of the registered technogenic emergency situations are fires (363 in 2018), and the number of fires in the Province has increased by 533 (147%).
During the reporting period the activities of Ararat Regional Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were directed to the improvement of the civil protection system of the Province and to the implementation of the tasks of population protection in emergency situations.
Ararat Regional Rescue Department has been working to prepare civil protection and population protection systems, to increase response efficiency of emergency situations and cases, to preserve people’s lives and health, to provide the involvement of Province population in preventing emergency situations and in reducing the impact of the results. Besides, activities were carried out to provide the publicity of population and civil protection issues, to organize and implement trainings of population and of authorities on the issues of population and civil protection in emergency situations, to implement preventive activities, as well as to enhance the readiness of fire and rescue forces.
During the reporting period, studies were carried out and recommendations were represented on the hazardous parts of the rivers and canals of the Province and on the implemetation of preventive activities in those areas.
The measures designed by the main measure plan were fully implemented by Ararat Regional Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations during the reporting period.
According to Colonel Murad Margaryan, it is necessary to establish closer cooperation among the communities, heads of organizations and Regional Rescue Department, as well as to gradually upgrade fire and rescue vehicle fleet.
Colonel Margaryan assured that Ararat Regional Rescue Department is ready to carry out its mandated tasks.
