EU NEIGHBOURS. Government officials from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine met in Vienna last week to review their progress on implementing their national climate actions.
The meeting focused on a set of measures aiming to collect data on greenhouse gas emissions and actions to mitigate climate change.
The participants discussed how to establish effective national systems, accelerate climate action in different sectors and build public support through partnership with all stakeholders, including the private sector.
The meeting was part of a series of regional discussions organised by the EU4Climate initiative. The aim of the initiative is to support policymakers from the six Eastern partner countries in implementing the Paris Agreement and aligning their national climate actions with their countries’ association and partnership agreements with the EU.
