Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan held a press conference about the first case of the coronavirus in Armenia and presented the situation surrounding the case.
The minister presented information about the virus, such as what to do and how to protect oneself. The minister said that the coronavirus comes from a large family of viruses that can cause minimal to severe breathing problems, even problems that can cause death. The coronavirus is more dangerous to people over 50 since chronic illnesses are more common among such people. Those above 80 are most likely to become infected with the flu, for example.
“Respiratory illnesses typically go away in hot weather. We can say that we are lucky because the weather is getting warmer. Viruses are being destroyed by the sun and the number of people gathering in closed locations is decreasing, which prevents the spread of such viruses,” the minister said.
Torosyan advised people to avoid contact with ill individuals, but if there is a need to come into contact with them, then it is critical to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and if there is no soap or water on hand at that moment, it is advised to use antibacterial hand sanitizer. It is also important to air out the rooms.

“One more piece of advice- I don’t know if anyone will listen, but I will say it anyways. Let’s stop greeting each other with kisses until the weather gets warmer. Then, we will greet each other more warmly. We also should avoid greeting each other with handshakes because that is another way viruses spread.”
