Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by Council of Europe Director General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law Christos Yakoumopoulos.
Noting that the visit of such a high-level CoE delegation is a good opportunity to discuss the cooperation agenda, the Prime Minister referred to the democratic changes underway in our country. Nikol Pashinyan pointed out that since the Velvet Revolution of 2018, Armenia has been strengthening democratic institutions, and partnership with international organizations, including European institutions is important in this process.
Christos Yakoumopoulos stressed that the Council of Europe is keen to build on the partnership with Armenia and stands ready to back the country throughout the reform process.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to Armenia-Council of Europe cooperation in the field of judicial reform. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to keep on holding joint consultations and cooperate to strengthen democracy in our country.
