On 26–27 February, experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine gathered in the Georgian capital Tbilisi to discuss the river basin management plans in the Caucasus region.
The workshop was organised by the EU-funded project ‘European Union Water Initiative Plus for Eastern Partnership Countries’ (EUWI+). The two-day event aimed to develop a set of guidelines for public consultations, based on past experiences and best practices developed under the EU Water Framework Directive.
Around 45 participants from the six Eastern partner countries, as well as French experts from the International Office for Water, shared best practices on how to design, perform and evaluate a public consultation on river basin management plans.
The Eastern partner countries are expected to hold their public consultations in the next few months.
