Torosyan: ‘We examined the wife of the patient who has the coronavirus’

March 05,2020 19:25

Prior to answering questions during the recent session of government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan about the Armenian citizens being quarantined at the Golden Palace Hotel. He also asked about the actions taking place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Torosyan said that all activities are continuing, starting with border control to working with the sole individual who was confirmed to have the coronavirus in Armenia.

Torosyan also said that the people quarantined at the hotel are feeling well and are in good health. “No one has any symptoms, including the patient with the coronavirus. We examined his wife yesterday, and it was confirmed that she does not have the virus. Although it is understood to be highly contagious, we do not believe that it’s as contagious as we’re meant to think because it’s possible for the virus to not spread between two people who live together. 162 tests have been taken and new samples are being taken every day. We will notify you if anything new comes up,” the minister said.

Pashinyan asked if the citizens staying at the hotel are equipped with everything they need. Torosyan said that they are, confirming that they even have books, Internet, and television. He also said that they will stay at the hotel until March 14th.
