Debates on the independence of judges in Poland and the Republic of Moldova, and on Europe’s political response to fighting the manipulation of sports competitions are among the highlights of PACE’s Spring Session, due to take place in Strasbourg from 20 to 24 April 2020.
Zuzana Čaputová, President of the Slovak Republic, and Giorgi Gakhanria, Prime Minister of Georgia, will address the parliamentarians. In addition, the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Zalkaliani, will present the communication from the Committee of Ministers.
Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Organisation, will also address the Assembly, while the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Dunja Mijatović will present her annual activity report for 2019.
Other debates on the agenda include setting minimum standards for electoral systems in order to offer the basis for free and fair elections, addressing sexual violence against children, promoting access to contraception in Europe, and the creation of an Internet Ombudsman institution.
