125 hand wash stations are being installed at encampments throughout Los Angeles, with more on the way
Los Angeles, CA — Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez announced that the City has begun installing hand wash stations today at homeless encampments throughout the City as a preventative measure to protect unhoused individuals from the coronavirus.
“It is critical to do everything possible to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus,” said Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, Chair of the City’s Public Safety Committee. “We recognize the immediate threats posed to individuals who do not have access to adequate resources, therefore we are immediately deploying these resources to fight the virus.”
This effort is in response to a Council motion that Councilmembers Monica Rodriguez and Mitch O’Farrell introduced on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Councilwoman Rodriguez plans to expand the directive and install hand wash stations at bus shelters across the City.
