EU project draws attention to water protection and climate change for World Water Day

EU NEIGHBOURS. To mark World Water Day on 22 March, the project ‘European Union Water Initiative Plus for the Eastern Partnership Countries’ (EUWI+) launched a social media campaign to draw attention to protecting water resources.

The campaign is running from 9 to 13 March and uses the hashtag #WorldWaterDay.

World Water Day is an annual UN observance day that highlights the importance of freshwater. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

The EUWI+ project assists Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to bring their legislation closer to EU policy in the field of water management, with a main focus on the management of transboundary river basins.
