“Unfortunately, we have 102 cases,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during an interview with the Shant television channel. He said that 75 percent of those 102 cases came from two sources. “The first source was the Ejmiatsin case and the second source was the manufacturing plant. Seventy-five percent of our coronavirus cases were infected in the same place.”
The Prime Minister said that the commanding force decided to remove the control point from Ejmiatsin at 20:00 local time because the situation in Ejmiatsin has stabilized. Now, the government needs to focus on stabilizing the situation at the manufacturing plant. The Prime Minister said that it was a challenge to identify the illness, clarify every individual the infected people came into contact with, and quarantine them. There were only three individuals who were infected by the Armenian citizen from Iran, which was thanks to the responsible approach of the Armenian citizen. He was able to be quarantined immediately. “Unfortunately, the situation was different for the other cases and the virus spread quickly. We were able to somewhat stabilize the situation in Ejmiatsin and we hope to do the same for the manufacturing plant. An epidemic is an epidemic because it contains a lot of uncertainty and unpredictability. If we see that this method of fighting against the illness is useless, we have other ways that we will be able to fight against it in the future.”
When asked about whether it is a secret or whether it is known how the individuals at the manufacturing plant got infected, Nikol Pashinyan responded, “Just as we will not mention the names of the individuals who are sick, we also will not mention the name of the manufacturing plant. I already said that this manufacturing plant is in the Shengavit district of Yerevan. It is a plant that has connections with Italy and we were able to identify what happened. The Italian instructor came to Armenia and was under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. He was able to hide his illness with the use of medicines and fever reducers. As a result, he spent one or two days at the plant. Then, he left Armenia and this was the result.”
