There is no two-month-old child in Armenia who has the coronavirus, but there are school-aged children. They are feeling fine and they are not experiencing any symptoms. Their condition is not life-threatening, nor is it serious. The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, spoke about this during a press conference at the Armenian Unified Infocenter. Torosyan did not say how many children have the virus because he did not have that information with him.
“There are rumors that these children may become a source for the virus to spread, but there are no cases of this virus having a serious effect on them. If we take into consideration the fact that there are approximately 500,000 people worldwide who have the virus, there are no scientific articles or publications that state that children are impacted seriously by this virus. We have also seen this in our own country,” Torosyan said.
The minister said that it is important to be careful so that the virus does not spread by way of children, but it is important for everyone to be careful of this.
According to the minister, the doctors who are working with infected patients are being supported with good living conditions. They are being provided with food and transportation to and from the hospital. They are even being provided with living quarters in hotels since there are doctors who have decided not to go home; they consider themselves to be at risk. Besides this, 50 doctors have gone through training so that they can also work some shifts. Torosyan said that there is no lack of available tests in Armenia and Armenia continues to receive tests. Until today, 1,440 people have been tested, of which 290 tested positive.

An online map will be prepared over the next two days that will show all the cities and towns where there have been coronavirus cases. The minister said that the situation in some regions is more controllable, but there are other regions where new cases continue to be confirmed, such as the Kotayk region. It seems that there are sporadic cases in Gyumri, Lori, and Syunik. There are cases in Yerevan and all the regions. The regions with the most cases are Armavir, Ararat, Kotayk, and Yerevan. It seems that no cases have been confirmed in Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik.
As far as how the virus spread to Gyumri or Lori, Torosyan said that some of the cases were due to personal contact. “There were cases where people got the virus due to personal contact. In other cases, Armenian or foreign citizens brought the virus from other countries. The process of establishing patients’ entire circles of contact is ongoing. There are cases where we have been able to completely identify everyone. But there are other cases where we have to work continuously because people are not cooperative and they do not tell us about everyone they came into contact with. I do not understand this. It seems that we should do something other than caring for their health or caring for the health of those around them.”
