“I consider these nationwide elections to be an important event. All of the elections that we had over the years have allowed us to make our country more secure,” the President of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan, told journalists on March 31st after he voted.
According to Bako Sahakyan, all the elections that were held in Artsakh have allowed the country’s economy to develop and for the people to express their willingness to continue living in Artsakh. “The unique part about this is that Artsakh does not only belong to its residents, but it equally belongs to all Armenians across the world. We have not only been worried about the physical security of the people living in Artsakh and we were not only focused on improving the lives of the people in Artsakh. We understand that we are carrying out a unique mission, which is to uphold the dignity of the Armenian people. I am happy to live in a country where the people recognize the importance of that mission,” Bako Sahakyan said.
The presidential and parliamentary elections that took place on March 31st provide the opportunity for that mission to be carried out more effectively, Bako Sahakyan said. He is convinced that this will be the case in the future, too.
