The first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in Artsakh. Artsakh State Minister Grigory Martirosyan and Minister of Health of Artsakh Arayik Baghryan met with reporters to discuss this.
The State Minister said that the individual came from Artashat to the Mirik village of Kashatagh on March 30th. When the Ministry of Health of Artsakh was informed on April 2nd that this individual’s relative was suspected of having the virus, they were placed in quarantine in Kashatagh. The individual did not have any symptoms, but when their relative was confirmed to have the virus, they also were tested. The individual was transported to Yerevan for treatment.
“We were able to identify this individual’s circle of contact, which consisted of 17 people. These people were informed about the decision to quarantine them. But considering the fact that this individual lives in a small village, we decided to give self-isolation orders to the entire village. This way, we will be able to prevent the virus from spreading,” Grigory Martirosyan said.
He added that the entire circle of contact is still being investigated. He emphasized that a decision was made to place the entire Mirik village in quarantine. The residents will be provided with all necessities; food and other necessities will be delivered to their homes. The village will be disinfected on Wednesday, after which all the residents will be provided with disinfecting materials.
