Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a congratulatory letter to President Bashar al-Assad of the Syrian Arab Republic on the country’s National Day. The message reads, in part:
“I warmly congratulate you and the friendly people of Syria on the National Day of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The Armenian-Syrian relations are characterized by deep-rooted ties of friendship, reciprocated sympathy, cooperation and mutual support.
Armenia provided consistent support to Syria during the Syrian crisis as evidenced by the activities carried out by the Armenian humanitarian mission in Aleppo. I am convinced that the traditional dialogue between our countries will expand and deepen to the benefit of our two friendly nations.

I am hopeful that Syria will overcome the crisis to usher in a new stage of progress and development. Taking the opportunity, I would like to reaffirm our commitment to contribute to the rehabilitation process in your country.
