22,000 Armenian citizens returned to Armenia since March 14th

April 21,2020 20:29

As a result of the coronavirus, approximately 22,000 Armenian citizens returned to Armenia from March 14th until today. They returned from many different countries, even Angola. The deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, Avet Adonts, spoke about this at the government press club. According to him, 1,283 Armenian citizens have appealed to the ministry as of April 21st to return to Armenia.

Avet Adonts said that there are cases in which the return of Armenian citizens continues to get postponed due to objective reasons. These reasons are mainly issues dealing with flight permissions and financing, or for reasons such as the possibility of putting citizens’ health in danger. “If it is delayed, such as in Russia, then our diplomatic representations do everything possible to help them easily overcome these issues. They also try to provide our citizens with temporary accommodations.”

According to Adonts, there is no need to gather at the Domodedovo Airport in Moscow. The deputy minister called upon the Armenians who are gathered at the airport due to the fact that they refuse to accept the embassy’s support to cooperate with the Armenian embassy. “Our work continues. We had flights yesterday and the day before from Krasnodar and Rostov. There will soon be flights from other cities as well, including Moscow.”
