“Russian capital has decreased by 40 percent. This is mainly based on the fact that Gazprom Armenia has taken out a loan to import gas from the Russian Gazprom. This statistically is considered to be an investment, but then we pay for the gas. Our government needs to create the type of environment that would allow Russian investments to remain in Armenia and to make our products more competitive. Is Russia not interested in that kind of cooperation? Armenian-Russian relations are not based on the current authorities,” Prosperous Armenia deputy Mikayel Melkumyan said in an interview with reporters.

He said that it’s clear from statements made by the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, that there are many things that need to be negotiated. “Of course, the people of Artsakh will decide the outcome of the Artsakh conflict, but were they asked about whether or not something should be discussed? Most likely, they are discussing either the Madrid or Kazan principles, which are unacceptable and not understandable.”
