According to the official Facebook page of the Shirak province’s regional administration, 65 people infected with the coronavirus are currently receiving treatment at the Gyumri Infectious Antituberculosis Hospital, of which 59 are residents of the Shirak province.
Aside from the 59 patients receiving treatment at the Gyumri hospital, the official source states that 11 people from the Shirak province are receiving treatment in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, and 10 people recovered and were released. Three deaths were registered as a result of the virus.
The three deaths were from the Ani community. Three men died. Two of them were from Maralik and were 68 and 90 years old, and one was from Dzorakap and was 62 years old.
“At the moment, 277 citizens are in quarantine or self-isolation. From March 1st until now, 686 coronavirus tests were administered at the province’s medical institutions and the regional National Center for Disease Control and Prevention. We are continuously confirming circles of contact and potential risk groups,” the regional administration’s official press source said.

The candle seller at the Cathedral of the Holy Mother of God in Gyumri, employees at one pharmacy, and one employee at the morgue were all confirmed to have the coronavirus. According to information provided by the regional administration, they all are connected to the Maralik source.
One case of the coronavirus has already been confirmed in the second-largest city of Shirak, Artik. The operative staff of Artik had already officially confirmed this information.
A while ago, healthcare professionals at the Maralik Health Center were also confirmed to have the virus.
In a decision made by the State of Emergency Command, the lockdown on people entering and leaving Maralik and Dzorakap was extended until April 30th at 11:59 PM local time.
