“We saw that hospitals in Europe were filled to their capacity. People in the rehabilitation unit were receiving treatment in parks under trees. We increased the fund of 300 hospital beds to 1,500, and we intend to have 150 more beds for use very soon,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the session of government regarding the activities taking place in the fight against the coronavirus.
He said that 600 more hotel and hospital rooms have been prepared. “Many patients are not currently experiencing any symptoms, but they have the virus. We have created a policy of isolating them instead of treating them so that they don’t infect anyone else. We have prepared 2,300 hotel rooms to isolate those who have been exposed to the virus. During this time, approximately 600 people were isolated. We have not violated any of our citizens’ dignity. I am happy to say that the quarantine conditions in Armenia have captivated the attention of regional and international media as a great example of how the state needs to treat its citizens during a crisis.”
