The number of times that people called the ambulance in Yerevan has not increased after the state of emergency restrictions were lifted on May 4th. The number of calls in January and February was higher at 900-950 per day, but now, there are 600-650 calls per day.
The director of the Yerevan Ambulance Service, Taguhi Stepanyan, spoke about this at the government press center. According to her, 12 emergency employees tested positive for the coronavirus. “However, none of them are experiencing any symptoms, and these people do not have any other issues. They are isolated at the proper medical centers.”
When asked if emergency employees received bonuses, Stepanyan said that the Yerevan municipality allocated money to reward doctors, nurses, and ambulance drivers working at the main hospitals treating the coronavirus. “The emergency doctors were awarded 95,000 AMD in bonuses, and nurses and ambulance drivers were awarded 70,000 AMD. The Ambulance Service also awarded medical dispatchers and the head doctors and nurses at the 103 Call Center. I think that these bonuses will continue.”
