The Minister of Defense, Davit Tonoyan, responding to News.am’s question about whether or not there are confirmed coronavirus cases in the army, said, “We have infected soldiers and soldiers in isolation. We also have employees who are in the at-risk group, so they are staying at home. There has been a sharp decrease in the number of people who are in quarantine and self-isolation. I believe that we will have even less as the weather gets warmer.”
According to Tonoyan, there is no danger, and there are almost no contract soldiers who are confirmed to have the coronavirus.
Regarding the infected soldiers, the minister said, “The cases in the Armed Forces were from our bases near Yerevan and other major sources. The overall number is less than two dozen, and we only have three soldiers whose condition is rather serious, although they are not in critical condition.”
