EU NEIGHBOURS . On 13 May, the EU delivered 11 two-wheel tractors to the Armenian province of Shirak to help vulnerable producers in the region during the COVID-19 crisis.
With this support, 15 rural settlements in Sarapat and Amasia will now have the opportunity to increase their production and become more self-sufficient. The new equipment will be used on a rotating basis, and the local farmers have received training on how to operate it. Tavush Province is planned to receive similar assistance.
This assistance has been part of the EU’s immediate support to Armenia in mitigating the effects of COVID-19 in the agricultural sector. The two-wheel tractors have been provided within the framework of the EU project ‘Green Awareness in Action’, which is implemented by the Austrian Development Agency.
