The National Assembly of Armenia passed legislation regarding changes in administrative fines after the first reading with 92 votes in favor.

Legislation to prevent the spread of the coronavirus was discussed during the extraordinary session. According to this legislation, citizens would be fine 10,000 AMD for not wearing masks in public during the state of emergency. However, business owners would be fined if citizens are not wearing masks in closed spaces, resulting in a fine between 100,000 and 300,000 AMD.

Masks purchased at pharmacies and factories are acceptable, as well as masks made at home, such as those made with cloth.

The second and final reading of this legislation will take place Tuesday evening.
