Extraordinary Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Continued
On June 2, the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs moderated by Vladimir Vardanyan continued the work of the extraordinary sitting held on the previous day. The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law on Referendum authored by the RA NA deputy Vahagn Hovakimyan was debated in the second reading and endorsed. It is fixed that the referendum suspended because of the martial law or the state of emergency is held not early than 50 days and not late than 65 days after the end of the martial law or the state of emergency.
The President of the Republic appoints the starting day of the process of the suspended referendum and the voting day after the martial law or the state of emergency, which shall be Sunday. The regulations of restarting the suspended referendum are also fixed.
As the key speaker assured, the package was revised after the first reading. The most presented recommendations were adopted.
