Large numbers of employees at two textile factories in Gyumri- Lentex and Svettext- were found to have the coronavirus.
The governor of Shirak, Tigran Petrosyan, told Aravot Daily that two preliminary cases were discovered at the factories, after which the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a mass investigation of the patients’ circles of contact and mass numbers of tests.
“There are more than 20 cases in both of the factories, which is why all activities were forced to cease. The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the main defense units, are working with everyone and their activities continue. We have not yet received data about whether or not there have been people who were transported to the Gyumri Infectious Hospital, but everyone who is going through this process and their family members have received orders to self-isolate,” the governor said.
When asked about whether the quarantine norms were upheld in these two factories, the governor said, “The Health and Labor Inspection Body visited all the businesses in Gyumri. They checked everything and provided the appropriate response. They also held consultations with employees. But the virus is such that workplaces where people are forced to congregate make those people direct targets for the spread of the virus.”
