The Minister of Emergency Situations, Felix Tsolakyan, and a doctor-resuscitator who left his job in Germany and returned to Armenia to get involved in the fight against the coronavirus, Arsen Manukyan, participated in the briefing after the State of Emergency Command meeting on Tuesday.
Arsen Manukyan, who is currently working at the St. Grigor Lushavorich Medical Center, said that he worked at one of the clinics in Bavaria, Germany. He confirmed that there were many people receiving treatment in March and April in Germany in the intensive therapy units. He added that the virus took many lives in May while leaving behind socioeconomic consequences. But it also has subsided a little bit.
According to the doctor, this was due to the high level of social responsibility that people had. He said that the terrible situation in Armenia at the time gave him a lot of room to think about his next steps. And when he read the Minister of Health’s announcement at the end of May asking for experts, he decided to come to Armenia.
“I discussed this decision with my wife and I understood that she supported it. She was prepared to remain on her own for an uncertain amount of time and take care of our 10-month-old son,” Arsen Manukyan said, who came to Armenia as soon as he got permission from his employer. He purchased a one-way ticket and came to Yerevan.

The doctor said that the work being done at the St. Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center’s intensive therapy units is indescribable. All the medical professionals, under the leadership of the head of the department, Grigor Manucharyan, are fighting against death. The doctor called upon Armenians to follow the pandemic rules, wear masks, avoid unnecessary meetings, and follow proper hygiene.
“On July 18th, my son, Levon, will turn one. I hope that there will be a decrease in the number of cases until then as a result of people following the rules so that I can return to my family and be there for my son’s first birthday. Please, help me to do that,” the doctor said.
