EU officials virtually visit Armenia to discuss bilateral affairs and COVID-19 response assistance

EU NEIGHBOURS. Between 9 and 10 June, EU officials held virtual meetings with Armenian government officials, the National Assembly and civil society representatives.

The first meetings were with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. The main topic of discussion was the EU’s ongoing support to Armenia in dealing with the health and socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

Lawrence Meredith, director for Neighbourhood East and Institution Building at the European Commission, and Luc Pierre Devigne, director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and OSCE at the European External Action Service, kicked off the first meeting, joined by EU Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.

The officials also discussed the ongoing partnership between the EU and Armenia in important reform areas, as well as the enhanced cooperation within the EU–Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and the Eastern Partnership.
