Regarding accepting any mistakes that the government made during the fight against the coronavirus, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said during a Facebook live video, “If you think that I made mistakes, I would like to apologize. Now everything is clear and we cannot rely on our knowledge from back then that changed. Knowledge always changes and is frequently being refuted. If we do not do the right thing, we will have made the greatest and most unforgivable mistake. The same goes for all changes and restrictions, their strength, and the rules. The rules also need to change. It is frequently said that there is a lack of clarity and dedication, or one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. I can honestly say that those changes are taking place based on knowledge and what we learn. This is how it is in almost all countries. Of course, there will be fewer changes over time as a result of knowledge and consolidation, but they are inevitable given the new situation.”
He continued, “I have read a lot of criticism about our mistakes, which I am absolutely taking into consideration when I make decisions. I also take those into consideration and the mistakes made by other countries when I give advice to my colleagues, other members of government, and the prime minister. The only way we can overcome this challenge is by being as honest as possible with the people, and I believe that we can. I believe in our political will and our nation’s ability to unite. It will allow us to keep this situation under control and move forward as long as we don’t have one of the following: a medication, vaccination, or a natural decline of the illness, which is also possible with this virus.”
