On June 9th, a protest took place by the Armenian embassy in Iran due to the fact that an embassy will be opening in Israel.
Regarding this issue, Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said in parliament, “The relationship between Armenia and Iran, as well as our mutual dialogue, is very active and inclusive. We have very clear projects to develop our mutual dialogue on all levels. Our mutual dialogue continues. The Prime Minister and the President of Iran held a discussion about having our projects move forward. The ministers of foreign affairs have upheld this mutual dialogue very clearly. Our diplomatic representation and the Iranian diplomatic representation in Yerevan are working actively. Our agenda has been formed and it is very large, which will continue. As far as the rest, Armenia has its interests that it needs to uphold and Armenia has never implemented, nor does it have the intention to implement, policies with one ally at the expense of another. We have many examples to show how Armenia makes its policies acceptable among different allies while also upholding its own interests and not ruining different developments that have an impact on our national security.”
