“It is possible for us to be in the kind of situation where we will have no other choice but to go under total lockdown. We have calculated when the healthcare system will be able to handle the burden. If the number of new cases is much higher than, say, 600, we will be forced to go back under total lockdown, which will negatively impact our economy,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during the special session of parliament.
According to him, “A continuous decrease in the number of cases over the course of ten days will allow us to discuss whether or not it will be necessary to go under total lockdown and curfew. Only then will we start to discuss the possibility of coming out of the state of emergency.”
Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the government decided to extend the state of emergency until July 13th, and the National Assembly convened in accordance with the law.
