Currently, over 90 people have been taken to police departments, but this number continues to change every minute. The head of the Department of Public Relations and Information of the Police, Ashot Aharonyan, spoke about this with Aravot Daily.
The National Security Service is conducting a search of Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s private home, which resulted in citizens, Prosperous Armenia deputies, and activists gathering in protest near the NSS building. Gagik Tsarukyan is being interrogated by the NSS.
The police are taking citizens into custody due to the fact that protests are prohibited during a state of emergency. Citizens and police have even gotten into fights with each other.
When Aravot Daily asked about how the police did not even follow their own order to uphold social distancing when they created a thick barricade, Aharonyan said that this order was given to the citizens. “The police is carrying out its duties in accordance with the law and it is the police’s main concern that citizens uphold social distancing.”
