The investigation based on the NSS’s mediation for arresting Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan for two months ended at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. The court will publish its decision on Sunday.
“They are presenting this mediation to arrest the head of the National Olympic Committee and the head of the second opposition force. I only have one thing to say: if I am at fault for the country’s condition, the pandemic, and the economic regression, then I am ready to go and receive my punishment myself. But again, I am surprised by all of this,” Gagik Tsarukyan told reporters. The NSS had published three statements regarding his case.
When asked about how he did not say that it was political persecution when Prosperous Armenia was part of the executive body and people on his team had criminal cases filed against them, Tsarukyan responded, “I had my suspicions, but I did not have the right to express that. I always believed that an investigation needed to take place. But today, I am responsible for what I say.” Tsarukyan and Prosperous Armenia consider this process to be a form of political persecution.
