EU NEIGHBOURS. On 19 June, the Council of the EU renewed the restrictive measures imposed on Russia for the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol until 23 June 2021.
The current sanctions ban the import of products from Crimea and Sevastopol into the EU, and restrict infrastructure and financial investments and tourism services in the region.
The EU has also restricted the exports of certain goods and technologies to companies in Crimea in the transport, telecommunications and energy sectors to limit the prospection, exploration and production of oil, gas and mineral resources in the region.
Since March 2014, the EU has progressively imposed restrictive measures in response to Russia’s attempts to destabilise Ukraine.
