EU NEIGHBOURS. On 26 June, a team of 11 doctors from Italy arrived in Armenia with support from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
The medical team includes emergency doctors, anaesthetists, infectious disease specialists and surgeons. They will be working alongside their Armenian colleagues for three weeks to reinforce health system capacities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The medical staff will provide further assistance in addition to last week’s deployed healthcare workers from Lithuania.
The EU has continuously coordinated and co-financed the transport of medical experts to Armenia during the coronavirus crisis.
