Reporters asked Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan how he knew which of the deputies was a carrier for the coronavirus. Several deputies have tested positive.
Alen Simonyan responded that several deputies who came into contact with someone who had the virus took a test, which came back negative. “If it so happens that the National Assembly needs to accept that the majority of our deputies are carriers, then I believe that we as a ruling body of the Republic of Armenia will need to come and vote if there is a law or decision that is dire and needs to be passed. For example, if I knew that everyone in parliament was infected but I wasn’t, then I would still come anyways. That is our responsibility.”
