“I do not know where people got the information that Turkey and Azerbaijan are planning on carrying out large-scale military operations along the Nakhichevan border. Perhaps they want to do it, but I think that it is too early for them to announce that they will be carrying out military operations,” the head of the command staff faculty at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, said during a briefing with reporters in response to a question about how Turkey and Azerbaijan have plans to carry out military operations at the Nakhichevan border. “In any case, the Armenian Armed Forces is prepared to defend all of Armenia’s borders against any attacks,” Hovhannisyan assured.
Regarding the fact that the Non-Aligned Movement expressed its support for the Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia in a statement, Hovhannisyan said, “That is not the first organization to blame us. Azerbaijan’s allies have blamed us a lot over these past several days. Therefore, I do not think it is necessary for us to respond to everything. Due to the efforts of our diplomats, the majority of the civilized world gave a more accurate and clear evaluation of the situation and condemned Azerbaijan for attacking civilians.”
