The construction of the new road adjacent to Babajanyan street has been restarted This road is the segment of the western bypass of the capital. The residents of adjacent buildings had some worries related to the construction started here in 2017. Last year Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan and the Chief Architect Arthur Meschyan met the residents and discussed the problem with them. As a result some changes were made in the design, and the road works started anew in accordance with the new design.
“All possible dangers have been considered by engineers, by the Municipality, numerous meeting with residents have been held, we heard them out and take some suggestions into account. Now the construction has been restarted as we also have obligations before our donor loan organizations”, says the First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Hrachya Sargsyan.
The residents were mainly worried with the movement of vehicles in this quarter, with comfortable and safe movement of pedestrians. According to the First Deputy, best solutions were found to the situation. However, it increased the costs of the program by USD 900.000-1 000 000.
“The city is developing and these roads are unavoidable. We had some problems with residents during the construction of Davtashen-Ashtarak segment of the bypass. The problems were discussed and settled, and now not only the residents of that area but also those who make use of this road are pleased with it”, says Mr. Sargsyan.
To realize the construction the authorities dismantled 44 properties the owners of which got compensations of 3-4 million drams each in 2017. The dismantling was fulfilled in February of this year.
The western segment of Yerevan bypass will be of 23 km length. The new road will connect the northern and southern entries to the capital and significantly relieve the traffic.
