COVID Pandemic-Lessons Learnt. More than 1,500 participants from more than 15 countries around the world

International Center for Professional Development – ICPD planned a Virtual Conference: COVID Pandemic-Lessons Learnt, which was held on July 25, at 13:30 Yerevan time. 

This conference was designed for physicians and health care professionals to address the much-needed information about this pandemic and aimed to fill the educational gap in clinical, epidemiological, regulatory and innovative aspects of this pandemic.

More than 1,500 participants from more than 15 countries around the world:  from Armenia, Artsakh, USA, Canada, many European countries, India, Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Lebanon and  from other countries joined the virtual conference.

The conference consists of 4 main sessions on the following topics: 

1.Epidemiology of COVID

2.Clinical Issues in Pediatric and Pregnant

3.Clinical Issues in Adult Patients

4.Resource Allocation, Reopening and Innovation

In the framework of the conference leading Armenian professionals from all over the world shared their experience in fighting this pandemic. At the end of every session speakers answered the questions of participants.

The conference was moderated by leading Armenian medical professionals from around the world.

The president of the International Center for Professional Development (ICPD) in Armenia Rafi Avitsyan delivered an opening speech, welcoming and thanking everyone without whom it would not have been possible to organize the conference, in particular the Ministry of Health of the RA.

“The ICPD is formed through the efforts of the few physicians, on the one hand recognised the need for a high quality, world class education resource to improve the continuous learning of the professionals in Armenia and on the other hand they realized the bounds of non-eligible internationally known individuals what Armenian, not Armenian, what in Armenia, outside of Armenia, who know knowledge is not have borders and are ready to share their experience in order to advance science of healthcare. 

Our goal is to provide resources to continuously improve knowledge and experience in the field of healthcare for practitioners, health science professionals and biomedical technology experts.”

The Minister of Health of the RA Arsen Torosyan addressed the welcoming message to the participants.

“Dear colleagues, Covid 19 pandemic has pushed many of us in the new realities, but one thing is clear for now, the priorities have not been changed, but even became bolder. Covid 19 outbreak not only became a new challenge to deal with but also showed our strengths developed on the valuable experience of responding to other health treats, as well as weaknesses that need to be addressed. 

The epidemic one more time proved that health is the one of the most important priorities and emergency preparedness is core for effective response and containment of the epidemic. Given the fact that various effecting is new, we did not know much about in the beginning. Even now we get new information about prevention, diagnostics and treatment on a daily basis.

Hence I attach great importance to the continuous change of professional experience aims the supplementing the knowledge in  clinical, epidemiological, regulatory and innovative aspects. Pandemic of this magnitude don’t respect borders. In this respect it is very gratifying and welcome to every support of our specialists of Armenian diaspora.”

ICPD offers Armenian CME and USA CME, CDE (dental) credits to participants of this conference according to their country of practice.

During the coffee breaks, participants had the unique opportunity to “visit” a virtual exhibition of medical posters and art works on the theme of Covid 19.

The sponsor of virtual coffee “Gmoji Armenia” gave all participants and moderators in Armenia a cup of coffee using modern online tools.

The center was created by collaborative efforts of Drs. Ara Babloyan, Gevorg Yaghjyan and Rafi Avitsian.

This virtual Conference: COVID Pandemic-Lessons Learnt is a part of the educational resources initiated by ICPD.

A series of educational resources is for physicians and other health care workers who are currently facing the clinical and organizational, as well as hospital administrative difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic.
