On July 31, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Foreign Minister of Artsakh Masis Mayilian. The newly appointed representative of Artsakh in Armenia Sergey Ghazaryan also participated in the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Mnatsakanyan congratulated Sergey Ghazaryan on his appointment as the Representative of Artsakh in Armenia, wishing him fruitful and productive work.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the escalation in some parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in result of aggressive actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces undertaken since July 12, 2020, as well as the steps aimed at de-escalation.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Artsakh emphasized the importance of further strengthening of the common security system of Armenia and Artsakh and the steps to be undertaken in this direction. In this regard, the sides highlighted the unacceptability of destabilizing policy in the region and its decisive rejection.

Minister Mnatsakanyan stressed that the Republic of Artsakh should become a full party to the peace process on all the issues, including substantive, risk reduction, humanitarian and others.

In the context of the resumption and advancement of the peace process, the Foreign Ministers prioritized the creation of an environment conducive to peace, including through the strengthening of the ceasefire, public denouncement of the use of force by Azerbaijan and the cessation of the Armenophobic rhetoric, as well as the introduction of international monitoring mechanisms both on the state border and the line of contact.
