The world is facing many challenges, and I am worried that the coronavirus is not the most serious of them. The coronavirus was simply a preliminary warning to remind us of the reality. Eight billion people are breathing the same air and we are unable to simply avoid each other and stay within the borders of one city or one country. That will be disastrous for the global economy. And, therefore, if we assume that everyone in one country (let’s say a rich country) were to get vaccinated, but no one were to get vaccinated in a poor country, then the virus will spread among the “wealthier” people sooner or later. It’s clear that this issue needs to be resolved with everyone’s united efforts, whether democratic or authoritarian and allies or enemies. But the same approach needs to be used for resolving other global challenges, too.
