The state of emergency in Armenia will be extended from August 12th until September 11th. The government decided upon this during the most recent session. This is the fifth time that the state of emergency has been extended. Although the state of emergency will continue, some of the limitations will be lifted. The ban on foreign citizens from entering Armenia will be lifted. They will not be hospitalized upon entering the country, but they will need to quarantine for 14 days. But if that individual takes a coronavirus test and the response is negative, the quarantine conditions will change.
The ban on carrying out gatherings and strikes throughout the country will also be limited. Gatherings will be allowed in accordance with the Commandant’s rules about maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
Family gatherings and entertainment events will also be allowed. They can be held in both open and closed spaces, but no more than 40 people will be allowed. They will also have to uphold the rules.
The Minister of Justice, Rustam Badasyan, who oversaw the legislation, said that the limitations on exchanging goods through customs will also be lifted. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said if the spread of the virus gets worse as a result of this, the government will be forced to reinstate the restrictions.
