Politicians need “poets”

The pragmatic approach is when the leader of the country forms a “pocket” committee that follows the leader’s orders and writes the text that the leader wants. Then, the majority of the National Assembly, which is also part of the leader’s pocket, approves the text that is placed for a referendum.

The motivation for Serzh Sargsyan to do that was obvious: so he could remain the leader. Nikol Pashinyan perhaps has his perspective on the country’s future, but perhaps there will not be any need to falsify the results of the referendum. But even after taking those differences into consideration, the mechanism for making decisions will not change and the main laws and entire system will remain flimsy.
