Disregarded professions

August 20,2020 19:58

It’s interesting why our youth disregards certain professions. I can provide several examples. According to the Assessment and Testing Center, 410 spots remain open in the Faculty of Construction at the National University of Architecture and Construction. This is an interesting statistic for a nation that is considered to love construction. At the National Agrarian University, 194 open spots remain in the Department of Agrarian Engineering, 224 in the Department of Food Technologies, and 103 remain in the Department of Agronomy.

This is considering the fact that more than 20 percent of Armenia’s active residents work in agriculture. It is clear that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport needs to conduct research along with experts in order to analyze the reasons for this. But it seems as though one of those reasons is right on the surface: the current situation of the job market. However, that is not the only explanation. It can also be assumed that there are issues with those universities, such as with the methods used for teaching and giving graduates the opportunities to become successful in their prospective fields. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport loves the phrase “final results.” Perhaps the number of open spots at those universities is one of the main demonstrations of those “final results.”
