President Armen Sarkissian spoke on the phone with the President of Singapore: great opportunities for the development of bilateral and multilateral economic and trade relations

President Armen Sarkissian spoke on the phone with the President of the Republic of Singapore Halimah Yacob.
The Presidents exchanged views on the situation in the two countries conditioned by the coronavirus pandemic and efforts to overcome it.

The President of Singapore expressed gratitude to President Sarkissian for Armenia’s ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore. The President of Armenia in his turn noted that it will create great opportunities for the development of bilateral and multilateral economic and trade relations.

During the conversation, President Sarkissian presented to the President of Singapore presidential ATOM (Advance TOMorrow) initiative which is aimed at making Armenia a regional platform in the areas of high-tech and artificial intelligence. He said that a number of states, international financial institutions and world’s leading technological companies have already expressed readiness to cooperate and with some of them preliminary agreements will be signed soon.

Speaking of his initiative to create a club of small and successful states, President Sarkissian noted that the project was discussed with a number of heads of state and received their approval. It is aimed at uniting small nations. In this framework of cooperation and dialogue, small states will exchange experience and ideas, develop their vision for future and assist each other. The President of Singapore expressed great interest in the creation of such club.
President Halimah Yakob invited the President of Armenia to visit Singapore at the time of his convenience.
