“We are following all the publications,” the head of the communication programs for the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Armenia, Zara Amatuni, told Aravot Daily in response to the question of what activities are taking place at the ICRC Armenia office for the Armenian officer who got lost in Azerbaijan, Gurgen Alaverdyan.
“We will carry out dialogue between authorities that is aimed towards the procedural continuation of the issue as we always do in similar situations,” Zara Amatuni said.
According to a statement made by the Ministry of Defense, Gurgen Alaverdyan got lost in Azerbaijani territory on August 22nd. Azerbaijani soldiers published degrading videos of the Armenian soldier presenting him as the commander of a saboteur group, despite the fact that the Ministry of Defense denied this information. Alaverdyan got lost as a result of poor weather conditions.
