Doctor in Gyumri dies of the coronavirus

Thirty-nine deaths due to the coronavirus have been registered in the Shirak region. The most recent death was of a junior medical worker born in 1960. They died in the capital. This is the first case in which a medical worker from the Shirak region died of the coronavirus.

The head of the health department of the Shirak regional administration, Leyli Aslanyan, spoke about this with Aravot Daily.

The source of the virus was not their place of employment. No other cases of the virus have been confirmed at this individual’s place of work. The employee was not feeling well, so they took a test and were transported to the capital. That is where they died. They also had other chronic illnesses.

According to our sources, they were an employee at the Gyumri Mental Health Center, but no other cases of the virus have been confirmed there. Prior to coming to work, all employees are subject to mandatory testing.

Three more people have been taken to the Gyumri Infectious Hospital. Two days ago, there were 38 people in total, and today there are 41. The number of people who are under mandatory quarantine has also increased. Two days ago, the number was 475, of which 106 had a positive coronavirus test result as well as symptoms. The number reached 517 today, of which 101 had a positive coronavirus test result along with symptoms.
