Solemn ceremony of awarding on the occasion of the Day of the Artsakh Republic
On 1 September a solemn ceremony of awarding on the occasion of the Day of the Artsakh Republic took place at the President’s residence.
The President handed in high state awards to the Defense Army servicemen, freedom fighters, workers of the Security Service, the Police, the State Service of Emergency Situations, representatives of the spheres of healthcare, education and science.
NKR honored titles were conferred to a group of people for substantial contribution to the education, science and healthcare spheres.
Military rank of major-general was conferred to Defense Army servicemen Karen Shakaryan, Karen Arstamyan, Samvel Poghosyan, and first deputy director of the Security Service Arayik Grigoryan.
The rank of third class state counselor of justice was conferred to deputy Prosecutor-Generals of the Artsakh Republic Erik Verdiyan and Sasoun Gabrielyan.
President Harutyunyan congratulated the awardees noting that September 2 is a historic day, a day of national pride, restoration of the once violated rights of the Artsakh people, a day symbolizing our dignified present and future.
“The unity and harmony around the national idea that the Armenian people expressed at that stage was exemplary,” highlighted the Head of the State, adding that today, more than ever, due to our national collective strength, we must build the Homeland of our dreams.
Speaking of future plans, Arayik Harutyunyan stressed that the statehood should be protected, continuously strengthened and developed, for which there is the most important precondition – human resources.
Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan and other high-ranking officials were present at the event.
