The Council of Elders of Yerevan allotted AMD 200 million to medical establishments to purchase equipment in 2020. It is almost three times as much as in 2018. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan familiarized with the work done and existing problems during the working visit to policlinics.
“I attach importance to the primary care service as it is the most important component of the system of medical aid. We should prevent morbidity. I had instructed our Department of Health to have medical personnel of policlinics give information about the equipment they need most of all to provide proper primary care. In 2019-2020 we started re-equipment of municipal policlinics. We were able to provide these establishments with a wide range of high-quality medical equipment. And the results, particularly in diagnostics are noticeable”, marked the Mayor.
Last year the Municipality of Yerevan provided policlinics with 325 units of 10 types of medical equipment, this year they will be distributed 134 units of 11 types. The process is going to be completed.
“We have found the fields which needed re-equipment and purchased most needed apparatuses such X-Ray, ophthalmologic and women’s consultation equipment. Our aim is to make community medical establishments catch up with private ones both in quality and technical saturation”, said Deputy Mayor Sergey Harutyunyan.
“The program will be continued: while drawing up the budget of the following year we have to take into account the needs of the community-owned medical establishments and only after studying the demands for this or that equipment we should purchase it”, stressed the Mayor.
The main problem of the primary care stays the improvement of the buildings. In parallel with completion of medical equipment the program of renovation of three substations of “Emergency” company has been completed this year. The system improvements in the sphere of healthcare will be continued in 2021 in accordance with priority. Renovation of 5 municipal policlinics is planned. The competition for design and estimate documentation has been announced.
