I completely stand behind and support the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, by lighting up Niagara Falls with the colours of the Armenian flag. Whether for the holiday celebration or the death of Mahsa Amini, 22-year-old Iranian woman who is widely believed to have been killed by Iran’s morality police for not completely covering her hair… I understand the reasoning of displaying colours with Niagara Falls but question Niagara Falls as to why, this act was so much more important than so many others before it? We have war in Ukraine affecting all the world in some way whether or another – we have thousands of innocent men, women and children’s bodies being found in shallow Russian made graves proving that the tortures, rapes and violently killed Ukrainians (and those who stood with Ukraine) had really occurred.

I ask but one question, as a Canadian citizen, why haven’t we seen Niagara Falls done in Ukranian colours in support of their war against the evil of Putin? Or… the death of Queen Elizabeth done in British colours… especially since this is OUR Queen? If using the Niagara Falls to display colours of support for something… it shouldn’t be left just at that!? And it’s offensive if it is. I would love to see Ukrainian colours on display until this war of genocide is over. We have Ukranian refugees entering into our Country, let us show our support by visualizing their colours for them to see that they do not stand alone.
