“Aliyev is traditionally noticeable due to his non-constructive, emotional, sometimes irresponsible, and sometimes false statements. His latest statements also fall into this context,” the chair of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Ruben Rubinyan, said during an interview with journalists.
Aliyev announced that the negotiations process has ended, for which the Armenian authorities are to blame. Rubinyan said, “Armenia has recently presented its position via the Minister of Foreign Affairs. We are not the non-constructive side. We have always come forth with our constructive positions and statements that are meant to strengthen the peace process. It is more than obvious what side has militaristic goals, what side attacks the other, and what side is trying to get rid of negotiations.”
Regarding the upcoming Prosperous Armenia-ARF-Hayrenik trio’s gathering, Rubinyan said, “If they want to hold a gathering, let them do so. I do not think that it will be possible to gain public support for two reasons. First, I don’t believe that there is a lot of dissatisfaction despite all the problems we’re facing, including the coronavirus. Second, even if there is that hypothetical dissatisfaction, I do not believe that these forces will be able to mobilize anyone. In general, I don’t think that those three forces can or will ever be able to mobilize any support in Armenia. They need to find the reasons for that elsewhere.”
Regarding the statement made by Dossier about how former NSS directors were Russian agents, Rubinyan said, “I believe that it would be better if you all asked the leader of Prosperous Armenia that question. I also want to know.”
