During the session of government, when the Support to the Implementation of Judicial Reforms in Armenia: Phase I funding between the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the European Union is Armenia’s main colleague in implementing democratic changes, and it is important to mention that this cooperation progressing naturally. Then, Nikol Pashinyan switched from speaking about the EU to speaking about Russia. “I want to stress the following: the work Russia’s Allies was published in Russia in May of 2020.”
The secretary of the National Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, added that this work was published by the CAST Russian analytical center. This publication comprehensively assesses the relations between the CSTO member states and Russia. In this publication, Armenia is on a high level in the context of allied relationships.
Then, the prime minister switched to speaking about the USA, stating that Armenia and the USA will soon begin the second phase of their strategic talks. Pashinyan expressed hope that there won’t be any restrictions due to COVID-19 and the entire project will be implemented. “And in that sense, it is important to stress that we are developing unusual but very effective relationships with our partners. And we will continue to develop those relationships. I have already said that the European Union, Russia, and the United States are important partners for us, and we are naturally developing our relations with our partners. We also are continuing our cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. A session of the EEU Intergovernmental Council is expected to take place in Yerevan in the near future. We also have intensive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and, of course, our relations with Georgia are traditionally positive. And we remain consistent in our perceptions of foreign policy where, of course, there are some “nuances” that might be unusual. We will continue our political course and deepen relations with our partners. This should have and will have a specific expression.”
